High there. My name is Griesbaum and I am suffering from low gaming or "low G" if that makes it easier for you to talk about. In other words there has been a severe lack of gaming in my life, due in no small part to my lack of drive to play them. They are there, I still buy them, but I can't get myself to sit down and put in the time.
To help remedy this, I have decided to start a blog. This blog will hopefully serve as motivation for me to turn on the systems a little more often and, who knows, with any luck I will actually be finishing games instead of giving up halfway through because "its been 3 weeks since I last charged my controllers" and "I don't have the time".
This lack of gaming really is a shame, because dammit, I love video games. I love the stories that you uncover in RPG and Action games, I love feeling like a genius solving a puzzle game that was intended for an audience half my age and, more than anything, I love getting together with friends and family just having fun.
I really only have myself to blame. All of my gaming most recently has focused on games that require hours upon hours to play through. Being a completionist, I tend to spend even longer on these games than I really should. Gone, have been the days of the "quick session" of a puzzle game or "just a couple of levels" of a platformer. Rather, I have been obsessed with killing an enemy over and over to harvest an ultimate weapon or tediously repeating quests and actions to level my character to obscene levels before moving forward in a game.
Now is the time for change. Get through the game, share it with everyone here on my blog. What I loved, what I hated... and maybe just maybe I can remember what it meant to be elated when I finished a game as opposed to ashamed that it took 180 hours.
Join me friends, and hopefully you will witness my resurgence as a gamer. It will be a long road filled with strange, sometimes too adorable enemies and more than one occasion where I ALMOST put a controller through the flat screen... but it will be worth it.
